Lake Country: the Okanagan's best kept secret

Lake Country is truly the best kept secret in the Okanagan Valley! Here is where the sun, water, mountains, friendly people and fun all meet.

Lake Country is made up of four different constituencies with a population of approximately 11,000 and growing.

Recreation opportunities are unlimited within our community. We are surrounded by several great lakes including: Okanagan Lake, Kalamalka Lake, Wood Lake and Duck Lake; and many smaller ones hidden within the eastern hills. All offer endless opportunities for water skiing, jet skiing, tubing, sailing, wake boarding, canoeing and fishing.

If you are interested in something other than water sports we have golfing, camping, hiking and many walking trails.

If winter sports are what you are looking for we have sensational snowmobiling and cross-country skiing trails, ice fishing, ice skating and curling. We are also strategically located between the world-renowned downhill ski resorts of Big White (Kelowna) and Silver Star Mountain (Vernon).

For those seeking other amenities of a rural community, Lake Country boasts the excellent Lake Country Museum, Creekside Theatre, Lake Country Art Gallery, and the Barn Gallery. You are also able to tour our value-added fruit industry business which includes orchards, farm bakeries and cafes.

Enjoy our local Farmers Market every Friday evening at Swalwell Park from June until the beginning of October. Here you can sample and purchase fresh local fruit and vegetables, flowers and local crafts. Entertainment and food & beverage venders are also provided so that you may relax and enjoy the warm summer evenings.

Lake Country is the proud home to award-winning wineries including Arrowleaf Cellars, Ex Nihilo Wines , and Gray Monk Estate Winery! In the summer of 2012 two new Wineries will be opening their doors for tasting, watch for more details on Intrigue Wines and 50th Parellel. Tours are available daily during the season, with wine shops and tasting offered on premises. Gray Monk also offers a fine dining establishment overlooking beautiful Okanagan Lake.

Some of the event highlights in the community include:
Oyama Fun Days, Canada Day Celebrations, Lake Country Summer Jam and Art Walk.
